Division of the Vice President for Research welcomes Dr. Michelle Stevenson as the Assistant Vice President for Research Compliance
Dr. Kenneth Sewell, Oklahoma State University Vice President for Research, is pleased to announce Dr. Michelle (Mickey) Stevenson has accepted the position of Assistant Vice President for Research Compliance. Stevenson currently serves as the Assistant Vice President for Research Integrity at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and brings more than a decade of research compliance, administration, and teaching experience to OSU. She is expected to begin her position by July 1.
Stevenson earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her career began by serving as an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in the Center for Gerontology and the Department of Human Development at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
Stevenson was a Research Specialist for the Office of Research and Technology Transfer at the University of Texas System Administration before being named the Director of Ethical Conduct of Research, Intellectual Property, and Sponsored Programs at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in 2010. Since 2012 she has served as the Assistant Vice President for Research Integrity at UTSA. Stevenson is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) and an active member in the National Council of University Research Administrators.
Stevenson’s role at OSU will be to direct the Office of Research Compliance, and to advise the Vice President for Research on all policy and administrative matters associated with maintaining responsible, ethical, and legally compliant research practices.
“Dr. Stevenson is widely respected by her peers nationwide as a research compliance leader who understands how to facilitate great research,” said Sewell. “I’m thrilled to have her coming on-board, and look forward to Mickey becoming an integral member of the Research Division’s leadership team.”
